9/11 Tribute Flag Project 2013

posted by admin at 6:07 pm on February 27, 2013

Hello Friends and supporters of the 9/11 tribute Flag Project. We are launching our project in March as we continue to create and print flags for those lost in the Pentagon group.  This is a wonderful project that allows participants to contribute in a deep and meaningful way. Its easy to participate and you don’t need skills or talent, just an open heart.

Here is the project in a nutshell:

You sign up, we assign you a name and links to information on the person you have recived. You read about your person and come up with an idea that will be trasnferred onto a linoleum block that you will carve out. We will then make a flag and two prints of your image. The flag will be displayed for the public to see and honor those lost. The prints and block will be given to family members as a gift.

The great thing is, we have a website (http://www.tributeflagproject.com) with all the information and examples of flags we did in the past. This informative website allows you to access instructions for carving and you can become inspired by the flags from the past two years. For your convenience and in the spirit of creating this tribute together, we will host a series of workshops at the SAI studio. Our first workshops will be in the month of March.

We have 140 flags to create this year so the more volunteers the better. All linoleum blocks need to finished by June 25th.  Start today by going online and signing up for a name and then join us at the studio. We have a wonderful community of volunteers and we welcome you to join us!

We happliy supply you with our standard sized linoleum block, and if you can’t make it to the workshops and prefer to work at home on your block, we will loan you the linoleum cutters as well.
