COMING SOON… 2018-2019 Registration opens in April

This class combines the luxury of time and freedom to explore ideas and experiment with different artistic mediums. Students can choose to work on drawing projects, painting, sculpting, mixed media, etc. by using any of the high quality supplies that are provided in the studio. Students are challenged to come up with their own artistic interpretation and expression as it relates to an event or idea. Concept development is actually considered a very important part of art education at our school. Drawing techniques are covered as needed, along with the option of instruction in a variety of other techniques. This class produces some of the most outstanding work due to flexibility, time and access and it is essential if you are planning to build a portfolio for college or design schools.

Fashion Design students are also welcome in this class as long as they are already comfortable in their basic sewing skills. You will experience the same freedom and flexibility to explore and create. We will continue to develop skills in sewing, illustrating and pattern making and you will be developing original designs from flat pattern methods and draping.

This is a comprehensive program to help college-bound students clarify their goals for the future and to create a plan for getting there. This program is not limited to Art students but is tailored to each individual’s area of interest. We go through a thorough process of research and analysis to help students understand what area of study is right for them. We work on Community Service or Special Projects which weigh heavily on scholarship opportunities and acceptance into higher level schools. Students work closely with Dianne to create their action plan during their early high school years. In their Junior year, there is active work on creating a strong sense of self and goals, doing college research, and learning application requirements. In the Senior year, the process is intense as applications, essays and portfolios are due.

There are thousands of jobs and careers. In today’s world, it is critical to find the right fit. College is a very big investment and it is wise to approach it with great consideration, thought and planning. If this process of choosing a college and career path feels overwhelming and confusing, then this is the program for you. If you want to get into top schools or qualify for scholarships, then this is the program for you. If you simply want to figure out what to do with your future, then this program is for you.
